How I Work With New People

Working with new people used to be one of my biggest barriers. The second a new person would sit down to work with me I would freeze. I would lock up, and I couldn’t even spell; sometimes I couldn’t even follow directions well. My anxiety often led to criticism of any new staff. Fortunately, I have been able to overcome this. Working with new people is something I enjoy now. It is rewarding to teach new people how to spell quickly.

It boosts my confidence to be successful with many Communication Regulation Partners (CRPs). Having relationships with many CRPs makes my days more meaningful. I had to work very hard to get to this point.

The more people I worked with, the better I got. Mostly we pick good people to work with and that helps. Looking until we locate people who are capable is very important. I value everyone I work with, so it’s important that we can build a good relationship. I think having a relationship built on trust and respect is what helps me be successful with new people. I do still need time to get to know new people, but it’s much less now.

I am proud of my effort to work with new people and how I can keep an open mind around them now. This was another goal I never thought I could overcome that I managed to accomplish.
