I went to Disney world a couple of weeks ago. I was excited about it because it seemed both fun and an accommodating vacation place for disabled people. I enjoyed my time, but it fell short in some areas.
I realize this is Disney but one thing I found overwhelming was all of the very little kids. I was somewhat interested in certain rides, even if they were young for me, but all of the screaming kids could be too much. I wish there were sensory friendly times or disability events.
They did have a disability pass to make waiting times shorter. This was a nice accommodation, however there was a paid pass that made waits shorter than the disability pass did. I think those with a disability pass should be prioritized, not just those who can pay for it. People with autism sometimes cannot wait in any way. I used to struggle with this. Many people with disabilities rely on accommodations to be able to attend at all. Paying for a fast pass is a convenience for the public, not a necessity like it is for autistic people.
Overall, I enjoyed my time and am glad that I went. I saw room for improvement in the trip for accommodations, but it was great to see things in place for autistic people.
