Last Friday I attended a new running club and had a great time. We socialized with each other and did exercises in the room for awhile and then started to run. My peers and I all had different skills, which brought a lot of excitement to the group. I learned a lot about my own strengths and weaknesses. I am strong at staying with the group and following instructions. I want to work on initiating the movement of running and controlling my pacing.
I have the most amazing new communication partner for the group and he really helped me make sure each movement was intentional. He was outstanding because he knew when to push me and when to let me rest. I loved all of the exercises we did, they were challenging, yet attainable. I loved my group and can’t wait for this Friday.
I want to say how thankful I am to both women who started this group for spellers in our community. I am also so grateful for each of the communication partners who learned so much about each of us and motor planning, to make the group as meaningful as possible for us. They were all truly remarkable and showed us how much we mattered. I have never felt so valued and respected by a group of professionals. I can’t wait for more. Friday is my new favorite day of the week!
